Welcome

We’ve just moved over to WordPress from Joomla.  I’ve got most of the plugins installed & the theme is up (just needs some tweaking).  Additionally all of the old content has been brought over.

This new system is much easier to manage behind-the-scenes.  It also handles text much nicer (in the previous site, words & lines got mushed together sometimes … I’m probably being picky, but it bothered me).  This new system handles multiple users much more gracefully, and the interface used to add posts, etc is much easier to understand.

I’ll continue to update this post as things are added/changed.  Until then, there’s a whole comments section at the end of this post just waiting for you to add your questions, gripes, suggestions, or praise!

Notes below come from multiple attendee’s points of view…

I’m not sure Pizza D’Action was the best venue for such a large meeting. It was a bit unwieldy with so many people, but the staff were very nice when I called an hour before to give them a heads up about the size of the group. They seemed genuinely excited to host Crush.

Space at 80 Race St might be available for c.r.u.s.h. functions. From the minutes of the Nov 1st Steering Committee meeting: Daphne Board

  • another event idea; 80 race st; split profits
  • could replace november’s Party With A Purpose (pwap)
  • door fee? lessens blow of liquor license
  • higher bartender? wine tasting? – insurance, liquor commission, police

I am excited about Casey, and Emily’s idea for some sort of summit with the help of the Roosevelt institute. It was a great discussion. They resolved to create to group on the Ning site for the project.

Thank you Rory for taking care of this month’s PWAP – CRUSH 2010 what do you want to see/make happen

March PWAP ‘Community Involvement – Volunteerism’? put together by Christine?

April PWAP ‘Holyoke History’ Peter. I have a lot of ideas for this one, already talked with the Historical Commission about it.

Starting an economic summit group.

we are meeting thursday ~9pm at james and becca’s to discuss the nye fallout and start brain storming for this year. all are welcome

we talked about posting all the PWAP and steering committee meetings dates but there was discussion as to where SC meeting should happen. VegaYoga? Pizza D’action? peoples homes?

should it be the same place or should it move? your thoughts and ideas.

other items discussed and brought up

Open Square – do we want to have events there? what is the commitment / do we have time? Do we want to host an open mic, battle of the bands or dance party? indoor block party idea?

starting the BYOR idea using and inviting restaurants to open at night for a place to go. or pot luck at an indoor location.

how can we connect with the task force around the high speed computing center?

a “volunteer resource” effort, could be a PWAP
